The West Hills United Soccer Club is proud to offer a comprehensive coaches education program, based on the West Hills Methodology. This program is designed to help coaches of all levels to improve their knowledge and understanding of the game, and to develop their ability to train their players to perform to the best of their ability.
The program consists of seven modules, each focusing on a specific area of the game. The modules are as follows: Introduction, Principles of the Game, Attacking, Defending, Attacking Transition, Defending Transition, and Set Plays.
The Introduction module provides coaches with an overview of the West Hills Methodology, and equips them with the basic knowledge and understanding that is needed to effectively coach their team. The module also covers the basics of player development, coaching philosophy, and team building.
The Principles of the Game module focuses on teaching coaches how to create a playing style that is suited to how the West Hills team would like to play. Coaches are presented with strategies for developing an attack mindset, creating a defensive mindset, and developing a balanced team approach.
The Attacking module covers the basics of attacking play, including passing and movement, creating scoring opportunities, and attacking transitions. Coaches are taught how to create chances, and how to exploit the opposition’s weaknesses.
The Defending module covers the basics of defensive play, including marking, tackling, and defensive actions. Coaches are taught how to read the game, and how to prevent the opposition from scoring.
The Attacking Transition module focuses on teaching coaches how to quickly transition from attacking to defending, and vice versa. Coaches are taught how to create and exploit numerical advantages, and how to quickly transition from offense to defense.
The Defending Transition module focuses on teaching coaches how to quickly transition from defending to attacking, and vice versa. Coaches are taught how to read the game, and how to quickly transition from defense to offense.
The Set Plays module covers the basics of set plays, including corner kicks, free kicks, and throw-ins. Coaches are taught how to create and execute set plays, and how to use them to their team’s advantage.
